About the Job
Join a next-generation manufacturing facility supporting advanced computer and AI server production as the EHS Manager, a critical role responsible for building and leading Environmental, Health, and Safety programs from the ground up.
This position is designed for a hands-on EHS leader who is comfortable operating in a greenfield environment, creating structure where none exists, and setting the direction for site safety and environmental compliance. This is not a purely administrative role—the EHS Manager is expected to maintain a strong floor presence and actively partner with operations as the site ramps.
Position Summary
The EHS Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing, and continuously improving all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs for Compal’s new Server USA manufacturing site in the Austin area. Reporting into Server USA Operations, this role will serve as the site owner for EHS strategy, compliance, and culture.
The ideal candidate brings deep manufacturing EHS experience, strong ownership mentality, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, start-up manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and own EHS programs for a new manufacturing site, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and ISO 45001/14001 standards
- Establish site-specific policies, procedures, training programs, and audit frameworks
- Conduct workplace safety training, job hazard analyses, risk assessments, and internal audits
- Lead incident and accident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions
- Manage hazardous materials programs, chemical handling, storage, and waste disposal processes
- Partner closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Facilities, and Quality teams to integrate EHS into daily production activities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, audits, and inspections
- Track, analyze, and report EHS metrics; drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Build and promote a proactive, safety-first culture across all levels of the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, and ISO 45001/14001 standards
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and own site-level EHS responsibilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or equivalent
- Experience supporting new site launches or greenfield manufacturing facilities
- Background in electronics, server, or high-tech manufacturing environments
Key Attributes
- Highly hands-on and execution-focused EHS leadership style
- Comfortable building programs, processes, and culture from the ground up
- Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability
- Clear, confident communicator who can partner effectively with operators, engineers, and leadership
- Ability to influence without authority in a matrixed organization
