Supplier Quality Engineer (SMT/PCBA)

About the Role

Join a next-generation manufacturing organization supporting high-performance computing and AI hardware. As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you’ll ensure the quality and reliability of SMT/PCBA materials and components flowing into our Austin operations. You’ll qualify suppliers, drive corrective actions, and partner closely with engineering, production, and procurement to maintain world-class quality and performance.

What You’ll Do

  • Qualify and audit new suppliers for PCB, EE, and ME components.
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive improvements based on data and trends.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (8D, 5-Why).
  • Support supplier development through process reviews, training, and quality improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing to align quality expectations.
  • Maintain documentation including scorecards, audit reports, and CAPA records.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (IPC-610/600, SPC, QC systems).
  • Perform related duties to support supplier quality and operational goals.

What You Bring

  • Experience in Supplier Quality Engineering or manufacturing quality roles.
  • Knowledge of SMT/PCBA processes, quality control methods, and FA tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable with data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple supplier interfaces.
  • Preferred: Experience with ISO9001, IATF 16949, ISO 26262, ISO 13485; Lean or Six Sigma background.
